O Sistema de Comunicação por Troca de Figuras® (PECS®- Picture Exchange Communication System®) é uma prática baseada em evidências que tem sido pesquisada desde 1994 e continua a ter um corpo de pesquisa em expansão que apóia sua eficácia. Artigos de pesquisa de todo o mundo sobre a eficácia do PECS para alunos de várias idades, diagnósticos e ambientes foram publicados em revistas especializadas, livros didáticos e periódicos profissionais.
